Minna Annola is a young photographer who currently lives and works in Helsinki. In the year 2009 she will be celebrating her 10th anniversary as a professional freelancer. Originating from Vaasa, a small town in the west cost of Finland's Ostrobothnia, a region famous for it's people's determination and persistence, she has worked hard to become one of Finland's most booked rock photographers.
Her goal is to shoot pictures that reveal and truthfully represent a model's feelings and mood. Capturing the essence of the location, paying attention to proper lighting and keeping the visual styling in mind are also key elements in Minna's work. She always sees new shooting conditions, staff and models as a chance to find new ideas. These situations feed Minna's creativity and keep the cycle of constant learning in progress. As a child she studied in a music-orienteted class for seven years so music has played a big role in her life. Keeping this in mind it is no wonder that Minna likes to work with singers, bands and other performing artists. Minna graduated in 2003 from The Institute of Visual Communications in Tampere from a vocational degree program in photography.
As a contradiction to her work with loud elements she likes spending her free time with relaxing quiet hobbies. Minna likes traveling to far out destinations preferably with no mass tourism, hiking in Lapland, nordic walking and last autumn she picked up the hobby of gathering mushrooms. More urban hobbies include going to gigs, pubs and karaoke bars. There she might even grab the microphone and pick up her favorite karaoke tune.
Minna's vision for the next five years is to keep developing her ability to find different approaching techniques for her pictures. She is also interested in mixing these different techniques and in doing so inventing some completely new viewpoints.
